Patna : Christmas is considered to be the biggest festival of Christians. It is celebrated every year on 25 December by people of the Christian community. They believe that this day is the day when Lord Jesus Christ or Jesus Christ was born, hence it is called a big day. In India, this day is also known as Bada Din.This day is a holiday in almost all countries. On the occasion of Christmas all the churches are decorated with colorful lights and the decorations mainly include Christmas tree, birth tableau etc. A popular but imaginary figure associated with Christmas is Santa Claus (also known as the father of Christmas) who is often associated with bringing gifts for children on Christmas is remembered on this day. The center of attraction for children is the Santa Claus, which brings a lot of gifts and chocolates for children in red and white clothes, while it is a fictional character that children are fond of. It is said that Santa Claus comes from heaven and gives people the things they want as gifts. This is the reason that some people make children happy by wearing Santa Claus costumes. Cake has special significance on this festival. Cake is a special Christmas dish, without which Christmas is considered incomplete. According to the Anno Domini period system, the birth of Jesus took place between 7 to 2 Bc .There is no real information to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on 25 December. This date seems to have been chosen to be associated with the Roman festival or Makar Sankranti. All the churches are specially decorated on the occasion of Christmas and the birth story of Lord Jesus Christ is displayed as a play. In many places a night prayer meeting is held in the church on the night before
Christmas which lasts till 12 o’clock in the night. At exactly 12 o’clock, people give Christmas greetings to their loved ones and celebrate the festival. Special prayer meetings are also held in the churches on Christmas morning. In many places, processions are taken out by the Christian community on Christmas day. In which tableaux of Lord Jesus Christ are presented. This festival is not only celebrated by the Christian community but people of other religions also celebrate this festival , They have also started lighting candles and praying in the church on this day. Christmas is basically a festival for Christian people, but now , non-Christian people also celebrate it as a secular, cultural festival. During this time, people exchange gifts , They buy the decorative items and spend the day in fun and joy. In most countries, Christmas is celebrated on 25 December according to the Julius calendar. But in Germany and some other countries, Christmas-related celebrations start on Christmas eve i.e. December 24. In the UK and other Commonwealth countries, Christmas is celebrated as Boxing Day on the following day i.e. 26 December. In some Catholic countries, Christmas is also known as St. Stephens Day or Feast of St. Stephens. While Christmas is celebrated on 6 January in the Armenian Apostolic Church. According to the Bible, German Christians believe that Jesus was born as the son of the “Messiah” Mary. According to the Matthew’s Dharma teaching that is given in the Gospel of Matthew, and the Theology of Luke its written that Mary got jesus with the help of her husband St. Joseph in Bethlehem. According to popular tradition, he was born in the stable which was surrounded by animals from all sides. Although there is no mention of stables and animals in the Bible, Luke, an “administrator”, states that “he was wrapped in clothes and was placed in a basket.” 210 years ago, when the British strengthened their hold in India and wanted to spread Christianity in India, they called it Gaz in different countries on 25 December, in India and its neighboring countries.
