The seminar cum training “Best from the waste” on natural dyeing and printing to handloom fabrics, was started at NIFT, Patna by their Textile design department, on 01st March, to celebrate ‘Craft Bazaar’ initiative and 10 years of excellence for the institute.
Professor SR Maulik, from Visva Bharti University, West Bengal was figured as honorable guest and expert speaker. This seminar was attended by more than 30 artisans from different parts of Bihar, as Muzzafarpur, Bhagalpur, Nalanda and Patna suburbs. These artisans were trained on the economical and practical importance and usefulness and sustainability issues of natural extracted dye from various sources as powdered marigold, lotus petals, mehendi, haldi, heena, madder and indigo etc. Later on, a practical training on natural dyeing by using these resources were performed by artisans with full enthusiasm. Others key important related topics were covered by Assistant Professor PintuPandit and Kunal Singha from NIFT, Patna. The program was blessed with the auspicious presence of Mr. N.S. Bora, Joint Director and Mr. Vinayak Yashraj, Associate Professor from the institute. The program closed with a vote of thanks from Assistant Professor Kunal Singha of the institution.
