Deepa Gupta, IIT Patna’s Research Scholar awarded the prestigious Dr. Robert A. Ellis Fellowship from Princeton University, USA

Patna: Deepa Gupta, a Ph.D. scholar of the Department of Mechanical Engineering IIT Patna working under the guidance of Dr. Probir Saha (IIT Patna), and Dr. Somnath Roy (IIT Kharagpur), has received a prestigious ‘Dr. Robert A. Ellis Fellowship’ from Princeton University, United States. She has received this fellowship to work as a post-doctoral fellow in the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) for three years.

Following an exhaustive and extensive series of interviews, comprising over ten rounds of technical and HR evaluations, Ms. Deepa has been extended this offer. This presents a momentous occasion as it marks the first instance where a Ph.D. candidate from IIT Patna has received such a prestigious opportunity to work at the esteemed Princeton University.

At IIT Patna, Ms.Deepa has worked in the field of thermal management of electronic instruments, a project supported by DeitY, the Government of India. Her work is centered on a diverse range of technical skills, including computational fluid dynamics, numerical heat transfer, machine learning, evolutionary multi-objective optimization, and experimental research methodologies. She has contributed to the field of thermal management by designing an efficient heat dissipation prototype aiming toward miniaturized electronic devices.
