Patna, 11 July 2025 :: On the sacred occasion of Guru Purnima, the “Guru Poojan Utsav” was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at Swami Jyotirmayananda Ashram, located at his birthplace, Shri Dumri Buzurg. Simultaneously, the celebration extended to Inner Wheel Club, Patliputra Colony, Patna, the Jyotirmay Trust Auditorium, Hotel Season 4, Rajendra Nagar, and with the music students of Sangeet Shikshayatan.
Bimal Kumar, retired IPS officer and Secretary of the Jyotirmay Trust, stated, “As always, we have conducted this event with full devotion and will continue to do so in the future as well.”

At Sangeet Shikshayatan, Patna, the Guru Purnima celebration was dedicated to music and the arts, where a spiritual cultural program was organized in honor of the Gurus.
One of the highlights of the event was a special presentation titled “Ek Shloki Bhav Katha” which was both poetic and philosophical.
🎶 Verse:
“Vande tam gurum ādyam, jīvanasya pradīpakam।
Tamo nāshakam ārgadarśī, karuṇāsāgaraṁ vibhum॥”
This verse was elaborately explained by Avadhesh Jha, a renowned Yoga Acharya, in the context of Guru Purnima and the Vedantic journey of Swami Jyotirmayananda Saraswati. To artistically express the essence of the verse, a dance drama titled “Guru: The Light of Life” was staged under the choreography of Guru Yamini, and beautifully performed by Tanya, Soumya, Shivani, Rishita, and Anya. The script and concept of the dance drama were composed by Avadhesh Jha.
The event began with sacred rituals and a havan (fire ceremony). The disciples offered flowers to their revered Guru, Swami Jyotirmayananda Saraswati, and after the formal worship, students from various departments presented a series of cultural performances that captivated the audience.
A unique rendition of the shloka “Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu…” was performed in Kathak and Bollywood styles by the junior group. Senior Kathak students offered a deep and graceful presentation of Guru Ashtakam, choreographed by Soumya Arya, featuring artists like Piyush Mishra, Anya Singh, Rishita, and Aradhya Srivastava. The group also performed a Tarana, and special appreciation was given to Yoga students for their rhythmic yoga performance.
Eminent Kathak dancer Yamini delivered a thoughtful talk on the theme “Shastra and Atma: The Ideal Form of the Guru”, addressing many important questions raised by the students such as:
Who is a Guru in life?
What is the true significance of a Guru?
What does a Guru truly want?
What makes an ideal disciple?
The divine ambiance of the program brought alive the fragrance of the timeless Guru-Shishya tradition.
The event concluded with the distribution of prasadam, mementos, and gifts. The vote of thanks was presented by Pooja Chaudhary, a core committee member of Shikshayatan.
