Patna, August 1, 2025: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna on Friday inaugurated its Orientation and Induction Programme 2025, marking the beginning of an exciting academic journey for newly admitted undergraduate students. The aim of the three-day event was to welcome the incoming batch and familiarize them with the academic environment, co-curricular activities, campus resources and institutional support systems available at IIT Patna.
The program began with the lighting of the lamp along with Saraswati Vandana, in the esteemed presence of Chief Guest Dr. Alok Sharma (Director, R&D, IOCL); Director, IIT Patna, Prof. T. N. Singh; Dean of Administration cum Registrar, Prof. A. K. Thakur; Associate Dean (PG), Dr. Subrata Hait; Associate Dean (UG), Dr. Sushant Kumar; Associate Dean (SA), Dr. P. K. Tiwari; PIC Registration, Dr. Kuldeep Patel; and DR Academic, Shri Vijay Kumar.
This year marks a historic milestone for IIT Patna, as it welcomes a record number of students admitted through JEE Advanced 2025. Out of the 783 students admitted nationwide, 622 male and 161 are female, highlighting the growing enthusiasm and interest among students across the country to join IIT Patna.
Addressing the students, Chief Guest Dr. Alok Sharma encouraged them to maintain a positive attitude and take proactive steps towards success.
In his motivational address to the students and their parents, Professor T. N. Singh welcomed the students and congratulated them on starting a new journey. He further said that there is no shortcut to success, do the small things in great manner. Commas and semicolons are always present in life, but full stops will not be acceptable. You must keep learning continuously. Life will be meaningful only when you get the opportunity to prepare yourself and change yourself purposefully.
Prof. A. K. Thakur highlighted IIT Patna’s distinguished legacy as a modern center of learning equipped with cutting-edge facilities. “We uphold ancient traditions of scholarship while embracing technology and innovation for the holistic development of our students,” he said.
Dr. Sushant Kumar, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies, briefed students about the academic roadmap ahead and elaborated on the wide array of learning opportunities offered by the institute.
Over the course of the next two days, students will participate in interactive sessions and campus tours, providing them with exposure to academic departments, laboratories, the central library, Students’ Activity Centre, career development resources, and sports and wellness facilities.
Students and their families from different states of the country gathered on the campus and appeared full of joy, pride and enthusiasm.
