BuildSEC’25 Inaugurated at IIT Patna to Strengthen Cybersecurity Initiatives

Patna, 2nd December 2025: The Second International Conference on Building a Secure and Empowered Cyberspace (BuildSEC’25) was inaugurated today at IIT Patna with the traditional ceremonial lighting of the lamp.

The event was graced by the chief guest, S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in the presence of Pratyaya Amrit, Chief Secretary, Government of Bihar; Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Government of Bihar; Prof. Sanjay Jha, UNSW Sydney, Australia; Prof. T. N. Singh, Director, IIT Patna; and Prof. Preetam Kumar, convener of the program.

Prof. Sanjay Jha highlighted the significance of BuildSEC’25 in addressing evolving cyber threats. Prof. T. N. Singh welcomed the dignitaries and stressed the pressing challenges of cybersecurity, ranging from individual data protection to national-level security concerns.During his address, S. Krishnan emphasized the growing importance of research, attention, and investment in tackling cyber threats and cyber-attacks.

He pointed out that securing critical events such as the G20 Summit, Mahakumbh, and Ram Mandir programs is particularly vital for government agencies. He also appreciated the proactive efforts of IIT Patna and the Government of Bihar in this domain.Pratyaya Amrit, Chief Secretary of Bihar, expressed his pleasure at visiting IIT Patna for the first time and noted that, in the age of rapid digitalization, addressing cybersecurity challenges, blockchain risks, and real-time cyber threats has become crucial. Abhay Kumar Singh highlighted various state initiatives in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, reflecting Bihar’s commitment to technological advancement.

The conference brought together experts from C-DAC Patna, IIIT Hyderabad, IISc Bangalore, IIT Kharagpur, IIT BHU, SETS Chennai, CERT-In, the Economic Offences Unit, Forensic Science Laboratory, and NIC Bihar, along with industry professionals and academicians. Distinguished participants included Prof. Jimson Mathew and Dr. Raju Halder, along with IIT Patna faculty, A Deans, HoDs, and staff.The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Preetam Kumar, convener of BuildSEC’25.

BuildSEC’25 is expected to provide a robust platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and advancing cybersecurity strategies at both national and international levels.
