IIT Patna’s 12th Convocation on August 26; Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to be Chief Guest

Patna: 25 August 2025 :: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna will host its 12th Convocation Ceremony on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at its campus in a grand manner. A total of 1,320 students will be awarded degrees, making this the largest and most significant convocation in the institute’s history.

At a press conference held today in the Board Room of IIT Patna, Director Prof. T. N. Singh, along with key members of the Convocation Committee, shared details and preparations for the event. He announced that Union Minister of Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest, enhancing the prestige of the ceremony. Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Nityanand Rai, will attend as the Distinguished Guest, while Shri B. R. Shankaranand, National Organizing Secretary of Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, will be the Honored Guest.

This year, 1,320 degrees will be awarded across various programs. These include 445 B.Tech., 47 B.S., 8 Dual Degree (B.Tech.–MBA), 207 M.Tech., 85 M.Sc., and 64 Ph.D. degrees. Additionally, 221 Hybrid M.Tech. and 243 Hybrid MBA students will also graduate. Of these, 856 degrees belong to students of regular academic programs, while 464 degrees will go to students from hybrid programs. To recognize academic excellence in regular programs, 4 gold medals and 28 silver medals will also be awarded.

The press meet was attended by key officials including Prof. A. K. Thakur (Dean Administration & Registrar), Convocation Co-Conveners Dr. Subrata Hait and Dr. Sushant Kumar, PIC Convocation Dr. Arvind Kumar Jha, Associate Dean (R&D) Dr. Anup Kumar Keshri, Associate Dean (Student Affairs) Dr. P. K. Tiwari, Dr. Vaibhav Singhal, Dr. Kuldeep Patel, among others. The session was conducted by Mr. Kripashankar Singh.

A full rehearsal will be held on August 25, 2025, at 4:00 PM. Prof. T. N. Singh emphasized that the convocation is not merely the conclusion of students’ academic journeys, but a celebration of their achievements, hard work, and excellence.

For the ceremony, academic stoles have been color-coded: Green for B.Tech., Blue for M.Tech., M.Sc., and Executive M.Tech., Turquoise Blue for Hybrid MBA, Red for Ph.D., and Golden for dignitaries.

The dress code mandates white attire. Boys must wear a plain white knee-length kurta with white churidar or pajama (without prints, borders, or embroidery). Girls may either wear a white cotton kurta with white bottoms or a plain white cotton saree with a thin golden border (without heavy borders, prints, or embroidery).

With meticulous planning underway, IIT Patna is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the success of its 12th Convocation Ceremony.
