Patna/Saran | July 29, 2026: Guru Purnima, one of India’s most revered spiritual and cultural festivals, was celebrated across the country with great devotion and enthusiasm. Temples, monasteries, educational institutions, yoga centres, and spiritual organizations organized special prayers, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, and discourses to honour the invaluable role of teachers and spiritual guides.
Observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Ashadha, Guru Purnima marks the birth anniversary of Maharishi Ved Vyasa, the legendary sage who compiled the Vedas and authored the Mahabharata. The festival is also known as Vyasa Purnima.
At Swami Jyotirmayananda Ashram, Sonpur, Guru Purnima was celebrated in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere with the participation of ashram children, their parents, devotees, and well-wishers. Prayer, meditation, and devotional programmes highlighted the significance of the eternal Guru–Shishya tradition.
On the occasion, Abdhesh Jha had the privilege of presenting his book Gita Darshan to Shri Vimal Kumar, Retired IPS Officer and Secretary of Jyotirmay Trust. The presentation symbolized the shared commitment to preserving and promoting India’s spiritual and philosophical heritage.
Sharing the message of Guru Purnima, Param Pujya Swami Jyotirmayananda Saraswati said:
“When you pray, worship, and meditate, a mysterious joy enters your heart. That is the true bliss, the real prasad, which connects you with God.”
Spiritual leaders emphasized that while technology and artificial intelligence have transformed access to information, the guidance of a Guru remains irreplaceable in shaping wisdom, values, character, and self-realization. They reiterated that true education extends beyond academic excellence and nurtures compassion, discipline, and ethical living.
The celebrations concluded with prayers for peace, prosperity, and the welfare of humanity, reaffirming the timeless message that reverence for knowledge and gratitude towards teachers are the cornerstones of a progressive and enlightened society.
गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः।
गुरुः साक्षात् परब्रह्म तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः॥
