PATNA: 23 January 2024 :: During the closing ceremony the three- day 2nd International Conference on Geotechnical Issues in Energy, Infrastructure and Disaster Management (ICGEID 2024) organized at IIT Patna, Honourable Governor Sikkim Lakshman Archarya emphasized the importance of education, research, and innovation, declaring the foundation of India 2047 with the inspiring words, “One Earth, One Future, One Family.” He urged researchers and scientists to continuously strive for new inventions aligned with the nation’s needs.
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at IIT Patna, CSIR- Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research Dhanbad, Jharkhand and Geotropik, Universiti Technology, Malaysia hosted the highly successful 2nd International Conference on Geotechnical Issues in Energy, Infrastructure, and Disaster Management from January 18-20, 2024. The event, graced by the presence of Honourable Governor Shri Lakshman Archarya, witnessed active participation from global dignitaries under the exceptional leadership of Prof. T.N. Singh, the esteemed Director of IIT Patna.
The conference featured a stellar lineup of 17 keynote speakers, 14 theme speakers, and presentations from 10 industry experts. With an overwhelming response, 165 research papers from around the world were presented, focusing on solutions to prevent slope instability in hilly regions such as Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Acknowledging outstanding contributions, the Best Paper award was presented to Mr. Abhishek Dutta (IIT (ISM), Dhanbad), Ankita Sonkar (DTU), Chinmay Sethi (CSIR- CIMFR, ACSIR), Mr. Rishabh Dwivedi (IIT Bombay), Sanbit Pani, NIT Raurkela, Anisur Rahman, Amit Jaiswal, and Mr. Saurabh Chakravorty (all from IIT Patna). Mr. Akshay Acharya from SJVNL was recognized as the Hero of Silkyara Tunnel, while Mr. Anil Banchhor from RDC Concrete (India) Pvt. Ltd. received the Green Platinum award for the best Environmental practices.
The conference’s success can be attributed to the relentless efforts of the Convener, Dr. Amit Kumar Verma and Co-Convener, Dr. Arvind Kumar Jha. Their dedication ensured the event’s seamless execution.
The 2nd International Conference on Geotechnical Issues in Energy, Infras nitructure, and Disaster Management at IIT Patna has undoubtedly contributed significantly to the advancement of knowledge in the field and set a positive tone for future endeavours.
