XIM University was honored to host esteemed dignitaries for the inauguration of the Student Residence at the Old Campus on 7th March 2025 with Chief Guest Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, Government of India, marking this significant milestone in the university’s commitment to providing world- class residential facilities to its students. Other distinguished guests included Suryabanshi Suraj, Minister of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha, along with Rajya Sabha Members Dr. Sasmit Patra and V. Muraleedharan and as well as Dusmanta Kumar Swain, and Raghunath Jagadala, Members of Legislative Assembly, Odisha.The event also saw the presence of key university leaders, including Vice Chancellor Fr. Antony R. Uvari, S.J.,Fr. S. Antony Raj, S.J., Registrar and other esteemed members of the board and administration.
The newly inaugurated 16 -storied Student Residence is a modern, state- of -the- art facility designed to enhance the student’s living experience. With a total built- up area of 28,689 square meters and a project cost of Rs.132 crores, this expansive residence is equipped with top- tier amenities aimed at fostering academic excellence, recreation, and well -being. Key features of the Student Residence include approximately 1,000 single rooms with essential facilities for comfortable living, along with sports, fitness, and activity areas such as food courts, a gym, and student association rooms. It also offers dining, healthcare, and essential services.
Union Minister of Higher Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, in his address, praised the esteemed legacy of XIM University, describing it as a center of excellence and knowledge. He acknowledged the significant contribution of Jesuit education in nation- building and its role in ensuring quality education for all. Emphasizing the importance of holistic learning, he suggested incorporating the National Education Policy (NEP) to enhance knowledge generation among the youth.
Minister of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha, Suryabanshi Suraj stated that the student residence at XIM University, Bhubaneswar is more than just a physical structure; it serves as a hub for growth, learning, creativity, and innovation.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Antony R. Uvari, S.J., Vice – Chancellor, XIM University Bhubaneswar expressed enthusiasm about the new residence, stating, “This facility reflects our ongoing commitment to providing a holistic learning environment to the learners. The Student Residence is designed to be more than just an accommodation; it is a vibrant community that fosters collaboration, well -being, and personal growth.”
The inauguration of the Student Residence marks another step towards XIM University’s vision of setting benchmarks in higher education through world -class infrastructure and student- centric initiatives. With this addition, the university reaffirms its dedication to nurturing future leaders by providing an enriching campus experience.
