On Earth day, Bihar govt to plant 2.5 crore saplings

Patna :On Aug 9 Bihar celebrated Prithivi Diwas. On the occasion of Bihar Earth day, Deputy chief minister sushil modi urged all Bihari people to take a solemn promise to rejuvenate the impanding green deficit in the state through participating in the ongoing event by planting at least a single tree at a time and contribute in backing the green drive.

According to sources, After planting the saplings. Near R- Block -Digha lane on aug 9, (situated at the capital of Bihar) , Chief minister Nitish Kumar concluded the nine years long ongoing initiation of massive planting drive that was started in 2006.

According to sources, from 2011 to 2019 more than 22 Crore sapling have been planted across the Bihar and now this initiation is about to end tomorrow.

while addressing webinar, Deputy CM said ,” under this ongoing initiation Bihar had set a target of planting 2.5 crore saplings to drive this massive plantation Abhiyan at formerly carved pit, but in the wake of contagious corona pandemic situation as well as Moonson season ,it had been decided that e this programme will be restarted from July 1 this year.”

To make the programme as grand as possible ,The Agricultural department of Bihar in collaboration with the Garden Directorate and Directorate of land protection, planned to conduct various programmes on plantation and initiate various projects medium specially for the farmers to make them aware in this regard.

The initiation of planting will be done at all the different levels like panchayat ,gram-panchayat, block headquarters and sub-divisional level , district levels of Agriculture departments.
